Just found another terrible counselling game that I made some ten years ago. It's based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, and clearly demonstrates why I'm never likely to get a job as a games designer and you can find it here.

We've just completed our latest DVD - An introduction to CBT

The text on the back cover pretty much tells you all you need to know -

"If you’ve heard about CBT but don’t know anything about it, then this DVD will help you. Following on from the success of “CBT Skills in Practice” this is Frank Wills’ second DVD based on a series of CBT sessions he undertook with a colleague, Jan Gray, acting in the role of client.  This time he turns he attention to the very basics of CBT, assuming little or no prior knowledge on the part of the viewer.

It explains what a Negative Automatic Thought is, what a Thought Record looks like, what the difference between a Conceptualisation and a Formulation is, what a Vicious Cycle is, and much more - with a clear demonstration of how each is used in practice. This DVD shows how a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist works."

Copies will be on sale - and going down to the library - within the next few days.

Just doing a little Bank Holiday computer housekeeping and I've found something I wrote the best part of ten years ago. It was a game to help people remember the stages of the Egan model - at that time Egan 6. I sent Gerard Egan a copy  of the game and it was on the strength of that that he first came to Newport to address the student conference (there's a DVD of that in the library) and was later  interviewed by Frank Wills for the DVD "Egan in Conversation." The game still seems to work - though of course the model has long been superseded - and you can find it here. If you play it you need to wait for the on screen instructions before clicking the "Start" button, otherwise it won't make too much sense. I have to say - before anybody else does - that it's pretty dreadful, and was made at a time when I had even less design sense than I do today!
