Cool and refreshing, and very easy to make

8 oz Strawberries
10 fl oz vegetable  stock
10 fl oz yoghurt
about a dozen mint lves
s & p
half tsp ground ginger
quarter tsp ground turmeric

Warm a little of the stock with the ginger and turmeric until the spices dissolve. Place the mixture, along with all other ingredients, into a food processor or blender and blend. Chill well and serve in iced bowls. That's it. If you need to balance the flavourings at all be sparing with the salt - it can quickly overpower the other flavours. If you want it to be a little more minty then using dried mint - rubbed into a powder in the palm of your hand - will do the trick.

In June of 2001 Gerard Egan came to speak at the Counselling Students' Conference. It was quite an ocasion, not least because of the students chanting "Gerry, Gerry, Gerry" while waiting for him to appear. We'd certainly never had such a big name at the conference before.

We videoed the event in an extremely low-tech kind of way, just propping a VHS camera up in the corner of the lecture theatre, edited the tape and put it in the library. I came across my copy of that tape the other day and, realising that almost nobody has a VHS player anymore, converted it to DVD and put that in the library. It's on the AYY campus - just ask for "Egan at UWCN" (That's what we were called at the time)

If you left a white raincoat in D7 on the AYY campus you'll be glad to know that it'll be handed in to reception when I next go downstairs. You're unlikely to need it today - bright sunshine and blue skies - but the time will come when you will!
