Here are a series of events you might like to attend. They all take place in the area around the Clarence Bar in Caerleon and are designed to support you in finding a part-time job or some work experience during your study - potential employers are invited to recruit you on campus, The Careers Service will hold a CV clinic there to check your CVs/application forms except Tuesday 20th October.
Tuesday 6 October (11am-2pm): Employer Mini-expo
• Celtic Manor Resort has a big recruitment drive with multiple job openings for Waiters/Waitresses, and Casual Room Attendants/Cleaners) based in Newport. They will be holding interviews from 11am to 3pm in Caerleon. If you want to be part of it, it is essential that you fill out an application form (downloadable at http://www.celtic-manor.com/recruitment.aspx), and bring your ID. For international students, you will also need to carry a letter from the Univeristy proving your study status. • NAS Cymru will be recruiting Be-frienders in Newport, which are ideal for you to get some work experience in relation to your course or get yourself integrated in the community.
• A2Z Computing, a local IT company will offer you the advice of the world of work in the IT sector as well as recruit for their work taster opportunities.
Tuesday 13 October (11am-2pm): Employer Mini-expo
• British Gas has 140 positions to fill for their Outbound Customer Service Advisers based in Cardiff. Public transport is easily accessible and flexible working hours are available. These are ideal opportunities for you to practice application and interview skills including telephone interviews, online tests, assessment centres etc.
• Mary’s Meals will offer opportunities for volunteering, taking part in events and organising own fundraising activities, which will help you build up marketing and business development skills.
• Hilton Hotel will be recruiting for their Christmas openings. Multiple positions available.
Tuesday 20 October (11am – 3pm): Charity/Volunteer Fair

• Student Mentors are required on campus. Multiple positions available.
• Nightline will be recruiting Volunteers; Support Workers, and Study Skills Tutors are wanted by the Disability team at Student Services.
• British Gas will be present again if you miss to see them last time. They will be recruiting up to 140 Outbound Customer Service Advisers.

We are very pleased to announce that the School’s Second Life Island has been updated in preparation for the new academic year.
The whole island has been redesigned using the open source OpenVCE objects & buildings that were released to the Second Life community last week.
