You learn something new every day!!
For the Resource Based Learning module, I decided quite some time ago that I was going to design a resource pack which could be used on a field-trip to St.Fagan's. As I teach speakers of other languages, the whole idea is for them to be given the opportunity to explore their language skills, use what they have learnt in class, learn new vocabulary and perhaps most importantly, have fun in English!
On Monday this week, I spent a few hours walking around St.Fagan's and even though I have been there many times before (I live only a couple of minutes drive away), I actually found out lots of lovely little gems of information that I can use for the trip. I got the opportunity to speak with some of the staff who work on site and they are incredibly knowledgeable. I have never had the chance to stop and chat before as I am usually far too busy chasing after my 4 year old daughter!!!!! It was really nice to get some insider knowledge and I am looking forward to my students being able to ask questions of staff too.
The resource itself is skeleton planned at the moment so all I have to do is get down to the actual design and talk some of my students into being my guinea pigs!!!!!! Fingers crossed some will agree or I will be calling on you, my lovely peers, to come and test out my creation! I hope your English is up to scratch!!!!!!! ;-)
